COMSAT Offers Iridium Certus to US DoD, Government and Commercial Users

Iridium Certus

With the final satellite in place linking the much-anticipated Iridium Certus NEXT constellation together, COMSAT now offers this powerful new service to aero, land-mobile, IoT, and maritime users. In addition, COMSAT is the exclusive service provider for Air Force Space Command’s Enhanced Mobile Satellite Services (EMSS) program. The advanced multi-service Certus platform supports critical connectivity needs regardless of location, terrain, and weather. The COMSAT Certus service also enables military, government, and enterprise users to transmit classified or sensitive information, using the highly secure and reliable voice and data low earth orbit satellite communications network anywhere around the world, even the poles.

Iridium Certus users will be able to securely connect soldiers deployed in the region to command and control centers anywhere on the planet because the terminals can maintain broadband connectivity in unpredictable environments on land, at sea, and in the air.

MARFOREUR and COMSAT have successfully installed and tested Iridium’s new Certus 350 high data rate service in support of U.S. Military operations North of the Arctic Circle. Due to limitations of GEO and MEO satellite constellations at higher latitudes, Iridium Certus is the perfect solution for providing voice and data communications to our soldiers anywhere in the world. SD is also manufacturing Certus terminal equipment for business and military/government aviation, slated for early 2020 release.
