Our partner commitment to support product and service development was reflected this year by our participation in Operation Arctic Lynx, a two-week field assessment deploying Iridium and Iridium Connected® technologies and latest equipment developments in the polar regions. We were invited to test military-grade services and equipment to showcase how it supports Iridium services for clients above 65°N, and even up to 72°N. Trials were completed in the most extreme of environments in Utqiaġvik, at the northern tip of Alaska.
Prior to the expedition, Satcom Direct worked with Iridium to define testing parameters and used the opportunity to confirm the availability and functionality of high-bandwidth services on the move. In addition, SD and Iridium confirmed the tolerances of the L-band service to support weather-resilient communications in extreme conditions. The validation expedition reaffirmed SD’s position as a leading provider of Iridium Certus services for the US Government and its agencies worldwide, and showcased our proficiency in delivering reliable, consistent communications in the remotest of locations.
Our participation showcased our capabilities as a reliable, consistent solutions provider for all types of users including commercial, government and military clients who operate in challenging environments where mission-critical communications are essential.
